23 ലക്ഷം രൂപ ബില്ലടക്കാതെ ഡൽഹി ഹോട്ടലിൽ നിന്ന് രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടയാൾ പുത്തൂരിൽ പിടിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.
യുഎഇ രാജകുടുംബത്തിലെ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനെന്ന വ്യാജേന ഡൽഹിയിലെ ലീല പാലസ് ഹോട്ടലിൽ നിന്ന് 23.46 ലക്ഷം രൂപ ബിൽ അടക്കാതെ ഒളിച്ചോടിയ ആളെ ദക്ഷിണ കന്നഡ ജില്ലയിലെ പുത്തൂരിലെ വീട്ടിൽ നിന്ന് ഞായറാഴ്ച പോലീസ് അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തു.
41 കാരനായ ബിരുദധാരിയായ മഹമ്മദ് ഷെരീഫ്, താൻ യുഎഇ ഗവൺമെന്റിന്റെ ‘ഓഫീസ് ഓഫ് ഹിസ് ഹൈനസ് ഷെയ്ഖ് ഫലാ ബിൻ സായിദ് അൽ നഹ്യാന്റെ’ മുതിർന്ന ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനാണെന്ന വ്യാജേന ബിസിനസ് കാർഡും യുഎഇ റസിഡന്റ് കാർഡും നൽകി കഴിഞ്ഞ വർഷം ഓഗസ്റ്റ് ഒന്നിന് രാജ്യതലസ്ഥാനത്തെ ലീല പാലസ് ഹോട്ടലിൽ 23.46 ലക്ഷം രൂപ നൽകാതെ കടന്നു കളഞ്ഞു .
ഹോട്ടൽ പോലീസിനെ സമീപിച്ചതിനെത്തുടർന്ന് അന്വേഷണ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർ ഷരീഫിനെ പുത്തൂരിലെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വസതിയിൽ വെച്ച് ജനുവരി 19 ന് അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തു. അവിടെയുള്ള കോടതിയിൽ നിന്ന് നാല് ദിവസത്തേക്ക് ട്രാൻസിറ്റ് റിമാൻഡ് ചെയ്തു.
തെറ്റായ ചിത്രം സൃഷ്‌ടിക്കാനും പിന്നീടുള്ള ഘട്ടത്തിൽ ഹോട്ടലിനെ കബളിപ്പിക്കാനും വഞ്ചിക്കാനുമുള്ള ഉദ്ദേശ്യത്തോടെ അധിക വിശ്വാസം നേടിയെടുക്കാനാണ് അതിഥി ബോധപൂർവം ഈ കാർഡുകൾ നൽകിയതെന്ന് ലീല പാലസ് അധികൃതർ പോലീസിന് നൽകിയ പരാതിയിൽ പറയുന്നു.
കഴിഞ്ഞ വർഷം ഓഗസ്റ്റ്, സെപ്തംബർ മാസങ്ങളിൽ ഷെരീഫ് 11.5 ലക്ഷം രൂപ സെറ്റിൽമെന്റുകൾ നടത്തിയതായി ഹോട്ടൽ പറയുന്നു. കുടിശ്ശിക 23,48,413 രൂപയായിരുന്നു, ഇതിനെതിരെ ഷെരീഫ് 20 ലക്ഷം രൂപയുടെ പോസ്റ്റ്-ഡേറ്റഡ് ചെക്ക് നൽകി.
ഈ ചെക്ക് സെപ്തംബർ 22 ന് ബാങ്കിൽ സമർപ്പിച്ചെങ്കിലും ഷെരീഫിന്റെ അക്കൗണ്ടിൽ വേണ്ടത്ര പണമില്ലാത്തതിനാൽ അത് ബൗൺസ് ചെയ്തതായി ഹോട്ടൽ പരാതിയിൽ പറയുന്നു. ഡൽഹി കോടതി ഞായറാഴ്ച ഷരീഫിനെ രണ്ട് ദിവസത്തെ പോലീസ് കസ്റ്റഡിയിൽ വിട്ടു.
ഡ്യൂട്ടി മജിസ്‌ട്രേറ്റ് ശിവാംഗി വ്യാസ് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കസ്റ്റഡിയിൽ ചോദ്യം ചെയ്യാൻ അയച്ചു.
